Diet orientation on a biblical front needs a better understanding of the foods and eating options that were recommended as per the scriptures.
In as much as it may not be evident, God is concerned about our overall health. There are some reasons why God is concerned about our diet. The reasons are; He loves us and wishes for our wellbeing, His communication to us is through our brain, He is our maker and regards us as His children and because our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
God’s love for us is evident in the numerous verses of the bible that show this such as; 1 John 4:19 “We love Him because He first loved us.” Therefore through His love, He would want what is best for us in this case being our diet.
We need to eat well in order to have our brains functioning in the way that it should be. This helps us to have better communication with Him as we have clear minds. The concept of healthy eating is important and God wishes us to follow this aspect as it helps us to pay attention to His call and understand what He is communicating to us in a better way than a person who does not follow a healthy diet and is often distracted from His word and call. Temptations and deceit from the devil often follow after taking the path of an unhealthy diet, this affects the plans that God has for a person and they may fail to hear His call or understand the scriptures well.
We are His creation and His children as well and therefore wants what is best for what He has made, in this case being our diet. His love for us as our maker and us is creation is evident in bible verses such as; “And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, said the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18.
Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and thus should be taken care of in a proper way. Our bodies being the temples of the holy spirit should thus be handled and used in a way that brings glory to God.
In the beginning, the diet mainly comprised of plants and vegetables later mostly especially in the garden of Eden. The diet continued to diversify and after the flood, there was introduction of flesh foods to the diet. After the introduction of eating of flesh foods, there was some conditions that were set for this purpose.
